Wynstan on Selling Houses Australia Season 17

Wynstan was proud to partner with Selling Houses Australia for Season 17, supplying window furnishings and security products across seven homes. Each episode brought a different property, a different brief, and a different problem to solve. Here’s a look at what went in across the season and the thinking behind each choice.

Episode 1: Hastings, Mornington Peninsula

Peter and Bridget had spent years renovating their home on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. When they listed it, they received just one offer in four months. The show’s team identified that the interiors lacked cohesion and the home wasn’t presenting at its potential.

Wynstan supplied Veri Shades for the bedroom and living room, along with roller blinds and curtains throughout. The Veri Shades were chosen for their flexibility, the curved vanes sit between two layers of sheer fabric, giving you soft filtered light or full privacy depending on how you angle them. They read as elegant in a photo and practical in person, which matters when a property is being styled for sale.

The Crimsafe security door completed the installation. For a property on the Mornington Peninsula, where indoor-outdoor living is central to the lifestyle, a door that provides security without blocking airflow or the view is an obvious choice. Crimsafe doors are cut-proof and kick-proof while letting fresh air through, the door installed at Hastings gave the home both security and openness.

Episode 3: Carlo and Carmel's Hobartville Home

Carlo and Carmel’s home in Hobartville was spacious but cluttered, and buyers weren’t connecting with it. The renovation focused on making the property feel more modern and liveable.

Wynstan supplied roller blinds and Veri Shades throughout. The roller blinds brought the home’s aesthetic together — when every window has a consistent treatment, the spaces feel intentional rather than assembled. In a property being staged for sale, that consistency reads well in photography and in person.

The standout installation was the sunroom, which was transformed into a dining space. Veri Shades in Luxury S – Flax were chosen for this room. The soft, warm fabric added texture and worked with the light in the space, turning what had been an underutilised room into one of the home’s selling points.

Episode 5: Charlie and Stella's Hornsby Home

Charlie and Stella found themselves carrying two mortgages after buying a new home before selling their existing one. The pressure was on to get the property market-ready quickly.

Wynstan supplied roller blinds, Veri Shades, curtains, and canopy awnings. In the master bedroom, a blockout roller blind in Torquay – All Black was paired with sheer curtains in Odin – Ebony. The combination is practical: the sheer lets light in during the day and softens the space visually, while the blockout gives full privacy and darkness when needed. It’s a pairing that works in a room that needs to appeal to buyers at any time of day.

The canopy awnings on the exterior used Docril Acrylic fabric. Beyond shade, canopy awnings affect how a home reads from the street — they give the facade a defined, structured look and signal to buyers that the outdoor areas have been considered.

Episode 6: Sean and Edwina's Annadale Home

Sean and Edwina had two young children and needed to move. Their home had dated interiors, an underused backyard, and tired window furnishings throughout.

Wynstan supplied folding arm awnings, curtains, and plantation shutters. The backyard was the biggest transformation — folding arm awnings in Docril Fossil created a shaded outdoor entertaining zone from a space that had previously offered nothing. Folding arm awnings retract when not in use and extend on a track system, which makes them versatile and practical for families.

The plantation shutters went into the bedrooms. As interior designer Wendy Moore put it: “The brief for this terrace house was elegant and classic, so these Wynstan Plantation Shutters do just the trick.” Shutters suit a terrace because they sit flush with the window frame, control light and privacy without cords, and hold up well over time, which matters whether you’re staying or selling.

The curtains, in Breakaway – Marble, went into the living areas. At ceiling height, they made the rooms feel larger and brought a softness to spaces that had previously felt flat.

Episode 8: Julie and David's Castle Hill Home

Julie and David’s Castle Hill property had a good layout and a desirable location. The challenge was pulling the interior together into something that would photograph and present well to buyers.

Wynstan supplied a cantilever umbrella, retractable folding arm awnings, honeycomb shades, curtains, and a light filtering roller blind. The cantilever umbrella beside the pool gave the outdoor area a resort feel, a straightforward addition that shifted how the space read entirely.

The master bedroom had high windows that let in strong morning light and heat. Honeycomb shades were installed at the top windows to insulate against heat without blocking light entirely. Curtains in Edgewater – Linen went on the main windows, bringing warmth to what was otherwise a functional room. In the kitchen, a light filtering roller blind diffused the sunlight rather than blocking it, practical in a room where you want brightness without glare.

Episode 9: Cindy's Camden Home

Cindy’s heritage home in Camden had strong bones but dated interiors and a mismatched facade that buyers weren’t connecting with.

The designer’s decision here was straightforward: use Wynstan’s Chesterfield curtains in Slate throughout the entire home. Running a single curtain throughout a property creates cohesion — every room feels like it belongs to the same house. In a heritage home, the finial-end heading style was also the right call. It nods to the period detail without being literal about it.

The Chesterfield fabric in Slate is a textured blockout with enough weight to hang properly and enough depth in colour to work with older architectural features. Hung ceiling to floor and wider than the window frame, the curtains made every room feel larger and more settled.

Episode 11: Dianne's Harrington Park Home

Dianne’s home in Harrington Park had been stuck in the 1990s. A bridging loan added financial pressure on top of the styling challenge. The home needed a complete visual update to help buyers see past its dated finish.

Wynstan supplied honeycomb shades, roller blinds, and zip-style awnings. In the kitchen, honeycomb shades brought a clean, sharp finish to a room that had been refreshed with new cabinetry and benchtops. Their slimline profile suited the updated kitchen, and their cellular design helps regulate temperature — useful in a north-facing room.

The zip-style awnings in Outlook Privacy – Storm transformed the outdoor area. Unlike a folding arm awning, zip awnings run in side channels — the fabric stays taut in wind and there are no gaps for light, rain, or insects. For outdoor entertaining in a suburban home, they extend the usable space and make it weatherproof in a way that adds real value to the property.
