Can my Outdoor Blinds or Awning be used in the rain?
Outdoor Blinds and Awnings are primarily used for shade. Light rain is usually fine, but we recommend retracting your Outdoor Blind or Awning during heavy rain. We offer both water-resistant and waterproof fabrics, but heavy rain can put pressure on the frame of outwardly projecting awnings and cause water to pool, which may affect the fabric’s elasticity.
Sunscreen fabrics are water resistant and their fine weave helps reduce rain entry, but during heavy wind and rain some water may still pass through the tiny openings. To protect both the fabric and frame, we recommend retracting the awning in strong or prolonged rain.
Are all Wynstan Outdoor Blinds & Awnings custom-made?
Yes, every product is made to measure to fit your home perfectly.
Can Outdoor Blinds and Awnings be motorised?
All of our Outdoor Blinds and Awnings can be motorised, except for retractable, fixed and canopy styles. You can also choose to add smart home control for extra convenience.
What fabrics are available?
We’ll walk you through them at your in-home consultation, but in short:
- Sunscreen: lets in light, keeps your view
- Acrylic: clean, colourful, mid-level shade
- Canvas: full blockout, traditional and tough
How hard are Outdoor Blinds and Awnings to maintain?
Not hard at all – just give the fabric a gentle clean now and then, and keep the channels or cables clear of leaves and dirt.
If motorised, we’ll show you how to keep it running smoothly after installation.
How much UV protection do your Outdoor Blind and Awnings fabric provide?
Our fabrics are designed for strong sun protection, blocking around 90-99% of harmful UV rays depending on colour and weave. Darker colours generally block more UV, while lighter shades allow more natural light. The actual protection also varies with installation angle and the surrounding environment.
Are the fabrics mould resistant?
All our fabrics are made with anti-mould treatment. Mould does not grow from the fabric itself but from dust and dirt left on the surface. That’s why regular cleaning with water is important to keep your awning in good condition. Always allow the fabric to dry fully before rolling up.
My Outdoor Blinds or Awning isn’t moving– what should I check?
The most common reason is the motor needs charging or the remote battery is flat — try that first. If it still doesn’t move, check if a timer has been set by mistake. Still not working? Give us a call and we’ll help you fix it.
My Wynstan Outdoor Blinds or Awning is old – can I replace just the fabric?
Yes, we can reskin your awning with new fabric — as long as it’s a Wynstan Outdoor Blinds or Awning. Just contact us and we’ll check the cost for you.
