Harry and Anna’s story
Busy working parents, Harry and Anna are juggling many things – three kids, a demanding family business, and a beautiful Federation home that needs love and attention.
With hardly any down time, this couple has long planned to renovate their home office and family bathroom, but hasn’t been able to find the time.
The project
Harry and Anna – and their kids Kai, Shelby and Zachary – live in a stunning 1900 Federation style house full of period features.
The family was planning to do the renovation in tiny stages whenever they found time in their busy schedule – a plan that Cherie says is problematic.
“The worst way to renovate is in a very haphazard, piecemeal sort of way,” she explains, adding that it is not only inconvenient, it is also more expensive to renovate in small steps.
Anna wants an all-white bathroom, but Cherie decides to go one better, adding in dark details and texture to balance the white, make it visually more interesting and reflect the architectural elements of the house.
She chooses new Roller Blinds from Wynstan in a dramatic shade of Charcoal to match the newly painted timber trims. It’s a strong choice that really anchors the design of the bathroom to create a contemporary look that’s still sympathetic to the Federation style of the house.
The office is given a similar treatment, with rich, dark walls lined with VJ panelling and charcoal Roller Blinds again that frame the traditional timber sash windows situated above the new desks.
